HandsOn Greater Phoenix is celebrating 30 years of transforming nonprofits, schools and neighborhoods with their annual Serve-A-Thon. Five hundred corporate, civic and individual volunteers will join forces for a weekend of hands-on community projects across the valley, April 20-22.
Avnet, a longstanding partner of HandsOn, will be participating in Serve-A-Thon by performing special beautification projects at Falcon Hill Elementary in school in Mesa.
“Volunteers from Avnet will make over the teachers’ lounge, touch up the school mural and four-square courts, create sensory paths for special education students and renovate the school’s garden,” said Katie Stringham, community engagement specialist, Avnet.
Other teams of volunteers will clean up parks, brighten classrooms, paint murals, connect with kids from low-income families, plant gardens and much more. The effort will provide a total of 1,600 hours of service.
“We are very excited to be celebrating 30 years with HandsOn greater Phoenix,” said Stringham. “We have been working with them from the very beginning and participate every year in Serve-A-Thon. It’s one of the favorite annual volunteer projects of our employees in Phoenix.”
