When choosing the right kind of fuse, it is good to study its basic parameters, such as: the fuse type, housing type, rated current and voltage or operating temperature. Among numerous fuse manufacturers, one worth taking into consideration is Optifuse, whose products are available from our catalogue:

Fuses are elements that are present in practically all types of electrical devices and installations. These elements work in a very simple way – they break the circuit once the peak current value or ambient temperature characteristic for the fuse is exceeded. That way, a fuse may prevent or limit device damage, as well as protect the user from the hazardous impact of electric current.

SMD fuses

Surface mount (SMD) fuses are a perfect choice for protection of small electronic circuits. Thanks to their compact size, they can easily be mounted directly on the PCB laminate, and in this way fit in the ever progressing process of miniaturisation. Optifuse has developed SMD fuses in 0603, 1206, 1812 and 2920 sizes. These can be (depending on the model) thermal or PTC resettable fuses. The latter, based on polymers, are designed for mounting in DC circuits with voltage ranging from 6 V to 60 V, and their rated current ranges from 150 mA to 6.3 A. Thermal fuses can easily be mounted both in DC and AC circuits, in which voltage ranges from 32 V AC/DC to 125 V AC/DC. This type of fuse will work when the current flowing through it is in the range from 35 A up to 100 A.

Miniature fuses

Miniature fuses, despite their name, are slightly bigger than SMD components. They are usually shaped as a glass tube with a filament placed inside, which burns out after the rated current value is exceeded. In the TME catalogue, you will find time-lag and medium time-lag thermal fuses in different sizes of housings. They may be used both in DC and AC circuits. This type of fuses will work when the current flowing in the circuit exceeds from 50 mA up to 375 A.

FSD-3.15A

Miniature time-lag and medium time-lag fuses are available from TME.

PTC resettable fuses

RS120-200

PTC fuses ensure protection from currents ranging from 100 mA to 18 A.

The PTC resettable fuses designed for through-hole mounting (THT) may slightly resemble a capacitor or a varistor on the outside. Thanks to their housing, they can be mounted directly on printed circuits of devices we use on a daily basis. These elements ensure protection from currents from 50 mA to 9 A, depending on the model.

Optifuse automotive fuses

Every car is equipped with dozens of fuses protecting its respective circuits from damage. Throughout the years, the number of systems and functions of these elements in the cars has grown significantly. Thermal fuses are available in various colours and in miniature variants in addition to the classic ones. They act at voltage ranging from 500 mA to 800 A.

APR-15A

Automotive fuses are available in classic and miniature variants.

In addition to fuses themselves, Optifuse offers automotive fuse accessories, including covers, pullers and mounting rails.

Industrial fuses

FPK-1A

Optifuse range for industry has been divided into several categories.

In industrial conditions, safety is one of the key concerns. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that engineers who design industrial processes and machines, equip the gear with fuses that protect both the devices and people. TME offers Optifuse fuses dedicated to industrial applications. These thermal fuses available in fast-acting and time-lag variants may operate in DC and AC circuits and act at currents ranging from 1 A to 30 A. It is good to take a closer look on these components because the manufacturer decided to differentiate between the respective types based on their application. Thanks to that, you will easily find fuses designed for transformers or lighting and overload protection applications.

Fuse holders

In addition to fuses, Optifuse also provides a range of related accessories. Most importantly, there are proper holders for mounting these elements. There are also holders mounted on device’s panel/housing, soldered directly onto a PCB, mounted on a cable or in a special automotive holder. Depending on the needs, it is easy to find perfect products for your designed installation or device.
