PHOENIX – Avnet and its Newark and USI Electronics business units have successfully been awarded a provisional Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Level 2 certification.
The Department of Defense’s (DoD) CMMC program establishes increased cybersecurity for Defense Industrial Base (DIB) contractors and is designed to protect Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
Having achieved a perfect assessment score of 110, the CMMC designation assures that Avnet, Newark and USI Electronics established strong security measures in support of their customers’ U.S. Government contracts.
“Being among the first to obtain the Defense Industrial Base Cybersecurity Assessment Center’s (DIBCAC) CMMC provisional certification, we demonstrated our capability to securely serve defense and aerospace customers, as well as the government contractors we work with,” said Dayna Badhorn, Americas president, Avnet. “We are committed to providing a fully CMMC compliant sourcing solution to meet our customers’ needs, today and in the future.”
Avnet, Newark, and USI Electronics are now positioned to support DoD regulations that will require customers to source only from suppliers that have achieved CMMC Certification.
“This certification validates that cybersecurity practices and processes are in place to protect CUI from falling into the wrong hands,” said Badhorn. “With the completion of our voluntary DIBCAC High Assessment, we have earned a provisional CMMC certification, which will automatically transition to a full certification when the DoD completes their final rule making for CMMC. Avnet is now certified to receive, handle, and share CUI with our customers and authorized suppliers as required for CMMC, well ahead of upcoming DoD mandates.”
