In the modern world, basic electronic components, such as resistors, capacitors, and inductors are often overshadowed by the universally applied microprocessors. However, it is these seemingly insignificant components that form the foundation without which no advanced electronic system could exist. Thanks to them, the basic tasks and functions of electronic circuits can be carried out.

The TME catalogue features an array of manufacturers of passive components. Among them is the Japanese giant of the electronics industry, Panasonic. It would be difficult to describe all the components available in the TME catalogue in one article, so this time we will focus on a few selected categories. Panasonic Power Supply components are characterised by a well-thought-out design, thanks to which their service life is even doubled. At the same time, the designers have significantly reduced the size of the products, making it possible to save up to 60% of the space required for PCB applications, which is highly important when it comes to many devices.
SMD Resistors
Resistors are basic electronic components that control the flow of current in electrical circuits. In the Panasonic catalogue, you can find resistors in various package variants: 0201, 0402, 0603, 0805, 1206, 1210, 1812, 2012 and 2512, with values that are typical for electronic circuits. These SMD components come in several power variants, from 50 mW to 3 W. In addition, they are compliant with the AEC-Q200 standard.

Capacitors

In the TME catalogue, you can also find capacitors ‒ basic electronic components designed to store energy. Panasonic supplies several types of these elements, including: polymer and hybrid SMD and THT capacitors, polarised electrolytic capacitors, and film capacitors. They can operate at various voltages, from 2 V DC to as much as 2000 V DC, and their capacitance ranges from 0.1 nF to 22 mF. Similarly to the resistors described above, the capacitors are AEC-Q200 compliant and are available in different package variants, thanks to which you can choose a capacitor that perfectly suits your target design.
Inductors
Another group of basic passive components offered by Panasonic are inductors. They are used for signal filtering and (in some cases) energy storage. A wide range of such components from the Japanese manufacturer is available in the TME catalogue. These SMD inductors are characterised by inductance in the range 0.33 H to 0.1 mH, while their operating current spans from 1.7 A to 56.7 A. The Panasonic wire inductors (power choke coils) are compliant with the AEC-Q200 standard and boast a tolerance of +/-20%.

Applications of the Panasonic Power Supply components
Power supply systems are the most obvious application for these components. As the manufacturer assures us, Panasonic Power Supply resistors, capacitors and inductors will be perfect for DC/DC voltage converters, used to convert DC voltage from one level to another. Thanks to the wide range of different components, this type of device can be designed in many ways, depending on the specific requirements of the application. With information about the supply voltage, the expected voltage at the output, the maximum current flowing through the converter, but also its efficiency, it is easy to select the appropriate components from the Panasonic range. As already mentioned, the Japanese manufacturer’s components allow for a significant reduction in the space required for the circuit, which is of great importance in the case of devices used in many industrial and consumer applications where miniaturisation is a priority. At the same time, the high quality and reliability of Panasonic components make it possible to extend the service life of the circuits, which in turn reduces the costs and workload of service and maintenance specialists.
The passive components described here are only a fragment of the entire range of products offered by the Japanese giant. The TME catalogue also comprises a variety of automation solutions. These include various types of sensors (photoelectric, inductive, fibre-optic sensors and other), regulation and control systems (switches, counters or PLCs), as well as electric motors. Just like in the case of passive components, the manufacturer has taken care to ensure the quality and precision of the applied solutions, which guarantees that they the automation products, too, meet the demanding requirements of the industrial sector.
