Fairport, NY: Saelig Company has introduced the Coltraco Portasonic® PRO, a handheld tablet-based ultrasonic clamp-on flow meter, now with built-in pressure prediction software for calculating internal pipe pressure from measured flow rates. The Portasonic® PRO combines the functionality of the Portasonic® PLUS, which measures flow rates non-invasively, with the Portasonic® CALCULATOR, which calculates flow pressure. This is the first all-in-one instrument capable of determining flow and internal pressure within pipes using non-invasive, external flow sensors.
For pipe diameters up to 750mmv the Portasonic® PRO provides advanced measurements:
- Accurate Flow Measurement: measure liquid flow rates non-invasively with industry-leading precision of 0.5%.
- ISO 17025 Verified: Flow measurement accuracies verified by an ISO 17025 laboratory, ensuring reliability and trustworthiness.
- Pressure Calculation: Displays both flow rate and calculated internal pipe pressures.
- Advanced Algorithms: Calculates pressure with 5% accuracy.
- Streamlined workflow: no need for additional resources to provide real-time calculations
- Data-logging Capabilities: Captures and stores millions of flow and pressure data points
- Heat Flow Rate Calculations: Achieved with user-input inlet/outlet temperatures
- Totalizer Capability: Keeps track of cumulative flow measurements
- Extensive Database: Calculation database includes 15+ pipe materials and fluid types
Monitoring internal pipe gauge pressure is crucial for preventing pipe failure, property damage, and risks to personnel. The non-invasive ultrasonic method of flow measurement and pressure monitoring offers many advantages over inline, invasive flow meters. External, clamp-on flow sensors are versatile and cost-effective, and they eliminate disruptive installation costs and downtime. No contact with fluids also eliminates the risk of pressure loss or damage to the flowmeter, with consequent longer lifespan and lower maintenance costs compared to inline meters.
The Portasonic® PRO performs real-time pressure calculations based on the measured flow rate, and an additional “Quick Calculate” feature for single pressure calculations. Flow rate and pressure measurements can be logged internally on the tablet’s 64 GB hard drive for an almost unlimited number of measurements. Logged data can later be exported via email or to a USB stick. Technical support and advice is available throughout the lifetime of the unit. The Portasonic® PRO is available now from Saelig Company, Inc. Fairport NY.
