New Delhi: Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC), the apex body for skill development in the automotive sector under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship,today announced the appointment of Mr. Vinkesh Gulati as its new chairperson. He succeeds F R Singhvi, who completed his tenure after steering the council through a period of expansion and reform. Mr. Gulati, a well-known figure in the automotive and education sectors, has previously served as President of the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) from 2020 to 2022 and currently leads United Automobiles and the United Group of Institutions. In ASDC, he has already played a key role as Vice President, driving initiatives to bridge the skill gap in the automotive workforce, with a focus on electric vehicles, advanced manufacturing, and digital diagnostics.
Known for his visionary approach, he has spearheaded several industry-first initiatives including the Dealer Satisfaction Study, legislative reforms for dealer protection, and the introduction of innovative platforms such as GenX and Women in FADA. In his role as Vice President of ASDC, he played a pivotal part in bridging the skill gap in the automotive sector, focusing on vocational training, certifications, and skill programs aligned with emerging technologies such as EVs, advanced manufacturing, and digital diagnostics.
Speaking on the transition, outgoing President Mr. F R Singhvi said: “It has been an honour to lead ASDC during a period of transformation for the automotive sector. We have laid a strong foundation in skill development, and I am confident that under Mr. Gulati’s leadership, ASDC will continue to empower the youth with future-ready skills and play an even stronger role in shaping India’s automotive ecosystem.”
On his appointment, Mr. Vinkesh Gulati said: “I am humbled to take on the responsibility of leading ASDC at such a pivotal time for the automotive industry. With rapid technological changes and the rise of electric mobility, skill development has never been more critical. My focus will be on ensuring that ASDC continues to deliver industry-relevant training, enhance employability for youth, and prepare India’s workforce for global competitiveness.”
With his appointment, ASDC reaffirms its commitment to building a skilled, future-ready workforce to meet the evolving demands of the automotive and mobility ecosystem.
