Fairport, NY. Saelig Company, Inc. has announced the availability of Euroquartz RF Cavity Filters for a variety of specifications, including high-pass, low-pass, band-stop, and notch filters. The filters can be custom tailored for frequency tuning, bandwidth adjustment, attenuation control, mechanical sizing, impedance matching, connector selection, group delay performance, or power capacity. Their physical size and metallic construction allow them to handle high RF power levels without overheating or breaking down, making them ideal for RF transmitters and base stations.
Cavity filters are often used in telecommunications, broadcasting, and radar systems to selectively transmit certain frequencies while blocking others. They have exceptionally high Q factors with very sharp, narrow selectivity curves. This allows them to separate signals that are tightly spaced in frequency. Because they are made of large metallic chambers rather than resistive miniature components, they introduce very little power loss to the signals they allow through.
Unlike smaller electronic filters made of microchips or surface-mount components, a cavity filter relies on physical geometry and electromagnetic resonance.
- The Cavity: It consists of a hollow, enclosed metallic chamber (the cavity).
- Resonance: Inside the chamber, an electromagnetic wave at a specific resonant frequency bounces back and forth between the metallic walls, reinforced by a central tuning element (like a rod or screw).
- Filtering: When RF signals pass through, only frequencies that match the precise resonant dimensions of the cavity can pass through with minimal loss (the passband). Frequencies outside this range are reflected or absorbed (the
Euroquartz Cavity Filters – Features:
- Frequency Range: DC to 60 GHz
- Bandwidth: 1 MHz to 40 GHz
- Connector Types: N-type, SMA, SMD, Needle (SMD), and more
- Power Handling: Up to 200 Watts
- Impedance Options: 50Ω / 75Ω
Filters can be tailored to customers’ technical requirements, such as frequency tuning, bandwidth, attenuation, size, impedance, connector type, group delay, or power handling capacity. Cavity filters are used by TV and radio transmitters to ensure they only broadcast on their assigned frequency channel; in radar, military communication systems, and satellite transponders where reliability and precise frequency filtering in harsh environments are critical, etc.
Designed and manufactured by Euroquartz Limited, an independent European manufacturer of frequency-related products for the electronics manufacturing industry world-wide, these cavity filters are available now from Saelig Co. Inc., Euroquartz’s technical USA distributor.
