EE: LAPP India has significantly expanded its manufacturing footprint, with facilities in Bengaluru, Bhopal and Dharuhera. How do these facilities strengthen your ability to serve the rapidly evolving Indian market?

Uphar Srivastava: India is one of the most dynamic manufacturing markets globally, and our multi-location manufacturing footprint enables us to stay close to our customers while responding faster to their requirements. Our facilities in Bengaluru, Bhopal and Dharuhera enhance regional reach, improve supply chain resilience and reduce lead times across key industrial clusters.

Beyond capacity expansion, these facilities allow us to align production with local market needs, maintain consistent quality standards and support industries ranging from manufacturing and automation to infrastructure, energy and mobility. This localized presence positions us to be a more agile and reliable partner for India’s industrial growth journey.

We are also very proud to say that our Bhopal plant is now world’s largest manufacturing plant across LAPP global.

EE: LAPP has highlighted the importance of “local-for-local” manufacturing. What percentage of your portfolio is currently localised, and how do you see localisation evolving under the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives?

Uphar Srivastava: Localization remains a strategic priority for LAPP India. Today, a significant share of our portfolio supplied to the Indian market is manufactured or value-added locally, and we continue to increase this contribution through investments in manufacturing capabilities, engineering expertise and local sourcing.

The Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives are accelerating industrial investment and creating opportunities for globally benchmarked products manufactured within the country. We see localization not merely as a manufacturing objective, but as a means to improve responsiveness, competitiveness and innovation while contributing to India’s vision of becoming a global manufacturing hub.

EE: Industrial automation is becoming increasingly dependent on reliable power, control and data connectivity. How is LAPP helping Indian manufacturers build smarter and more connected factories?

Uphar Srivastava: Smart factories rely on seamless communication between machines, systems and people. At LAPP, we enable this transformation through a comprehensive portfolio of power, control, data transmission and connectivity solutions that ensure reliable and uninterrupted operations.

Our solutions support communication across industrial networks, help improve machine performance, reduce downtime and facilitate real-time data exchange. Whether it is factory automation, process automation or digital manufacturing environments, we work closely with customers to build robust connectivity infrastructures that serve as the backbone of Industry 4.0.

EE: As factories move toward Industry 4.0, what new requirements are you seeing for high-speed data cables, industrial Ethernet, connectors and flexible cables?

Uphar Srivastava: Industry 4.0 is driving demand for faster, more reliable and more intelligent connectivity systems. Customers increasingly require solutions capable of handling higher data transmission rates, real-time communication and greater network reliability.

At the same time, cables and connectors must operate in increasingly demanding environments characterized by continuous motion, space constraints, vibration, temperature fluctuations and electromagnetic interference. We are seeing growing demand for industrial Ethernet solutions, high-flex cables for robotics and automated systems, and connectors that support both operational reliability and easy integration.

EE: LAPP has been moving beyond individual cables toward integrated connectivity and plug-and-play solutions. How important is this transformation to your long-term business strategy?

Uphar Srivastava: This transformation is central to our long-term strategy. Customers today seek complete connectivity solutions rather than individual components. They want systems that reduce installation time, minimize complexity and improve operational efficiency.

By expanding our solutions portfolio to include connectors, assemblies, industrial communication systems and integrated connectivity solutions, we are helping customers simplify implementation while ensuring consistent performance across their operations. This evolution strengthens our position as a technology partner rather than merely a product supplier.

EE: India’s EV ecosystem is expanding rapidly. What opportunities do you see for LAPP in EV manufacturing, battery systems, charging infrastructure and associated industrial applications?

Uphar Srivastava: The EV ecosystem presents significant opportunities across the entire value chain. From battery manufacturing and assembly lines to charging infrastructure and supporting industrial automation systems, reliable connectivity plays a critical role.

LAPP is well positioned to support this transition through solutions for power distribution, data communication, automation and manufacturing processes. As investments in EVs continue to accelerate, we expect strong demand for advanced connectivity solutions that ensure safety, efficiency and operational reliability throughout the ecosystem.

EE: Which emerging sectors such as semiconductors, electronics manufacturing, data centres, robotics, railways, EVs or renewable energy do you expect to become major growth engines for LAPP India?

Uphar Srivastava:India is witnessing a broad-based industrial transformation, creating opportunities across several high-growth sectors. We see significant potential in semiconductors, electronics manufacturing, data centres, renewable energy, electric mobility, robotics, railways and advanced manufacturing.

Each of these sectors relies heavily on reliable power, control and data connectivity, making them highly aligned with our expertise. As digitalization and automation continue to accelerate, these industries are expected to be key growth drivers for LAPP India over the coming decade.

EE: With electronics and automation becoming increasingly compact and sophisticated, how are cables and connectors themselves evolving in terms of size, performance, thermal capability and durability?

Uphar Srivastava: The evolution of automation and electronics is pushing connectivity solutions to deliver more performance within smaller footprints. Customers require cables and connectors that offer higher data speeds, greater power density and enhanced reliability without increasing installation space.

At the same time, products must withstand harsher operating conditions, including higher temperatures, mechanical stress and continuous movement. As a result, innovations are increasingly focused on compact designs, improved thermal performance, enhanced shielding and greater durability to support demanding industrial environments.

EE: Sustainability is becoming an important consideration across industrial supply chains. How is LAPP reducing the environmental impact of its manufacturing processes and products?

Uphar Srivastava: Sustainability is an integral part of our corporate strategy and product development philosophy. We are continuously working to improve resource efficiency, reduce waste, optimize energy consumption and increase the use of environmentally responsible processes across our operations.

Additionally, we focus on developing durable, high-quality products that support longer service life and reduce lifecycle impacts. By combining innovation, operational excellence and responsible manufacturing practices, we aim to contribute to more sustainable industrial ecosystems.

EE: What is your vision for LAPP India by 2030, and what role do you want the company to play in India’s journey toward smart manufacturing, electrification and Industry 4.0?

Uphar Srivastava: Our vision is to position LAPP India as the country’s most trusted partner for integrated connectivity solutions, supporting the next wave of industrial transformation. We aim to deepen our manufacturing presence, expand localization, strengthen innovation capabilities and continue delivering world-class solutions tailored to Indian market requirements.

By 2030, we aspire to play a pivotal role in enabling smart manufacturing, digitalization, electrification and sustainable growth across industries. As India advances toward becoming a global manufacturing powerhouse, LAPP will continue to provide the connectivity backbone that powers innovation, productivity and future-ready industrial ecosystems.
