The Industrial Prompt has Arrived

More than 100 qualified project enquiries shortly after launch signal the shift from a supplier-driven to a demand-driven market. Prompt-to-Product translates over 170 years of industrial experience and over 15,000 kinematic solutions into a digital pathway to the finished product.

WUPPERTAL – Since the current Prompt-to-Product tool went live in early 2026, more than 100 functional and mechanical B2B projects have been initiated via kabkin.com from a wide variety of prompts. Among the wide variety of exploratory inputs, the most significant were the qualified industrial enquiries with specific requirements regarding motion, installation space, loads, interfaces, safety, costs and deadlines. This milestone was achieved even before a broad paid media rollout and without a targeted search campaign for Prompt-to-Product.

For kabkin, the significance lies not merely in the figure. What is crucial is the trust underpinning the action: companies submit technically and economically relevant questions to the platform at an early stage and launch real product projects by describing a need. This is an early indication of a shift from a supply-driven market, which starts with existing products, to a demand-driven market, which starts with a required function.

‘The supply market starts with products and suppliers. The demand market starts with a need. The prompt field is new – but the expertise behind it is not. It is only through our experience that a vague description can be turned into a reliable path to a real product.’

Chris Windhövel, founder of kabkin.

From a supply-driven market to a demand-driven market

Industrial product development often still begins with catalogues, product names, lists of suppliers and the search for suitable engineering or manufacturing partners. Users must first translate their practical needs into the language of the existing supply – and already know what they are looking for.

kabkin reverses this sequence. Users describe in natural language what a product should do, adding photos, sketches, KPIs, target price, quantity or deadline where necessary. The process therefore does not start with a known product, but with the actual function, constraint or unresolved task. The principle is: “Don’t search for products. Let your needs build them.”

The digital translation of 170 years’ experience

Prompt-to-Product is not a standalone platform concept, but rather the logical digital evolution of industrial expertise built up over generations. kabkin draws on more than 170 years of engineering and manufacturing experience, as well as insights gained from over 15,000 individual kinematic systems and hinge solutions.

These projects have given rise to a knowledge and solution base comprising principles of motion, load cases, interfaces, space constraints, materials, manufacturing processes and recurring functional patterns. This enables new problems to be structured kinematically, compared against tried-and-tested patterns, and allows for early identification of whether an existing product should be used, a solution adapted, or a new one developed. It is precisely this combination of data, experience and technical judgement that makes a qualified initial feasibility check possible within 24 hours.

THE TRANSFORMATION LOGIC 170+ years’ experience + 15,000+ solutions -> Knowledge and solution base -> Kinematic analysis of a specific requirement -> 24-hour check -> Use, Adapt or Create -> Engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance and worldwide delivery.

From the initial prompt to the finished and delivered product

Going digital is just the beginning. kabkin covers the entire process: from the initial requirements specification and technical assessment, through solution selection, design, prototyping and industrialisation, right through to manufacturing, quality assurance and worldwide delivery. Users therefore receive not just a platform or an engineering service, but – if desired – a fully managed process leading to a real, ready-to-install product.

Use: Start straight away with a tried-and-tested, ready-to-use product.

Adapt: Adapt an existing product or solution template to the specific application. Create: Develop a new solution if no suitable option exists.

In this context, kinematics is the analytical method, not necessarily the resulting product category. It breaks down any functional and mechanical task into movements, forces, degrees of freedom, interfaces and boundary conditions. This can result in a hinge or a motion system, but equally in another mechanical component, an integrated assembly or a solution developed in collaboration with specialist partners.

Why this approach is so timely

Industrial companies are under simultaneous pressure to reduce costs, meet deadlines and innovate. Specialists and in-house development capacity are in short supply, even though innovation is needed now more than ever. ‘Prompt-to-Product’ lowers the barrier to entry: a request can be submitted at any time and from anywhere – precisely when a problem becomes urgent or too complex for the available resources.

Relevant enquiries receive an initial engineer-led feasibility assessment and expert feedback free of charge within 24 hours. Companies can evaluate ideas, assess concepts or initiate full-scale development projects without first having to research product names and multiple suppliers. This makes on-demand product development accessible even to teams lacking time, specialist knowledge or design capabilities: “Customised products for all”.

What the first 100+ industrial requirements actually indicate

This figure is indicative of an early shift in behaviour and trust: users are not merely reading about a new process, but are entrusting kabkin with substantial technical tasks. They trust that an initially open-ended description of requirements will result in a qualified assessment, a feasible concept and, where required, a manufactured, quality-assured product delivered worldwide.

The historical database of solutions is what makes this new approach possible in the first place; every additional requirement analysed expands our knowledge, reveals recurring patterns and can make the next case faster, more precise and more cost-effective. On this basis, kabkin prepares an anonymised Demand Market Snapshot.

For users, it remains simple: describe the requirement and receive a verified path to the actual product.
