Since August 2022, Avnet Asia has received a slew of human resources (HR) awards for its efforts in fostering employee wellbeing and a healthy workplace culture. Six country branches were honored within the space of four months.

Avnet saw four of its regional branches – namely Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong and China, named as “Best Companies to Work for in Asia” by HR Asia Awards. The annual awards program is organized by Business Media International (MBI) and routinely attracts entries from Fortune 500 companies. It recognizes companies with a high level of employee engagement and a great workplace culture.

HR Asia Awards names the following as Best Companies to Work for in Asia:

  • Avnet Taiwan
  • Avnet Singapore
  • Avnet Hong Kong
  • Avnet China

In addition, Avnet Taiwan and Avnet Singapore received the “Most Caring Company Award” from HR Asia, for implementing practices and policies that prioritize the wellbeing of employees and promote great workplace culture and environment.

The awards were presented at a series of virtual and live ceremonies rolled out round the region.

Avnet China was also awarded “Best Employer in Greater China 2022” in the annual awards organized by HRoot, a leading human resource media company in China. Avnet China also scored two awards in the Flag Awards 2022 – for Best HR Team 2022 (China and Hong Kong) and Best HR Leader 2022 (Welcome Wang). The annual awards are organized by HRFlag, a leading HR think tank and media company, and were based on the three criteria of Innovation, Achievement and Value. Out of a record high of 1,146 entrants, only 53 companies received awards – including AXA, Burger King, Emerson, Flex, JD, Kerry, Microsoft, OCBC, Schneider and Volvo.

Both Avnet India and Avnet Japan were certified as a “Great Place to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute India and the Great place to Work Institute Japan, respectively. In the same awards program, India was declared one of the “Best Workplaces in Electronics,” for inspiring trust in its employees, instilling pride and promoting camaraderie.

“This string of awards confirms that Avnet’s ‘People First’ principle is not just a corporate slogan, but a sincere commitment to looking after our greatest assets, our people,” said James Tan, senior vice president, Human Resources, Asia Pacific and Japan. “After all, investing in our employees is ultimately investing in our own success.”

Prince Yun, president, Asia Pacific and Japan, singled out Avnet’s employees, thanking them for their part in the organization’s success.

“I would like to thank our employees for the positive feedback they gave in the confidential surveys conducted by the awards’ organizers,” said Prince Yun. “These awards turn the tables on the usual scenario, where the performance of staff is reviewed by the employer, and effectively give the staff an opportunity to review the employer.”

Avnet Asia is part of Avnet, a global technology solutions provider that celebrated its centenary in 2021. The company supports customers of all sizes, from entrepreneurs to enterprises, and actively fosters a culture of inclusion within the workplace, identifying talent and grooming individuals from diverse backgrounds for long-term promotion and success within the organization.
