Adalio Sanchez, Avnet Board Member and President, S Group Advisory, LLC, has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) class of 2023. He is one of only 106 new U.S. members and 18 international members elected this year.
“The significance of this appointment is great for our country and is yet another demonstration of the exemplary skills of Avnet’s board of directors. We are a leading example in every dimension including diverse personal identities as well as professional backgrounds,” said Rod Adkins, Avnet Board Chairman and NAE member (class of 2005).
Election to NAE membership is one of the highest professional honors an engineer can achieve. The private, independent, nonprofit organization was founded in 1964 and operates under the same congressional act of incorporation that established the National Academy of Sciences, signed in 1863 by U.S. President Lincoln. Members are elected to NAE membership by their member peers, and the organization’s mission is to investigate, examine, experiment, and report upon any subject of science and art when called upon by any department or agency of the government.
“This is a significant accomplishment and recognition for Adalio’s contributions to the IT industry,” said Phil Gallagher, Avnet CEO. “We’re fortunate to be able to leverage Adalio’s expertise via his service on Avnet’s board and our entire nation stands to benefit from his extensive experience and engagement with technology leaders around the world.”
Individuals in the newly elected class will be formally inducted during the NAE’s annual meeting on Oct. 1, 2023. With the 2023 class included, NAE has 2,420 U.S. members and 319 international members.
