Bulgin – high quality signal transmission in adverse conditions
Bulgin, a leading manufacturer of connectors intended to operate in demanding environmental conditions, offers products satisfying strict requirements on water-, fire- and dust resistance. The safety of installation based on Bulgin technologies is not compromised by contact with a hot water jet or in a heavily salted environment. The connectors offered by Bulgin undergo strict trials performed by accredited bodies that test the products against very heavy environmental load in specific conditions. The above-mentioned durability properties of the connectors are confirmed by the following standards:
- IP68 rating – confirms that the connector is protected against dust particles and water ingress. The examination of tightness is performed by submerging the tested element in 10 metre deep water and inspecting the internal dryness of the connector after 14 days, and then submerging it in 100 metre deep water and checking it after 12 hours;
- IP69K rating – degree of protection certifying resistance to hot water jet;
- UL 94 standard – certifies flame retardance of the offered products;
- EN60068-2-52 standard – confirms resistance of the connector to a salt-laden atmosphere.
Bulgin Buccaneer connectors – design
Meeting the above-mentioned requirements is possible thanks to a properly designed structure of the connectors. The use of O-ring sealing and the sealing cap, as well as a tight body with a screw thread fastened to the powered device allows for the full protection of the connection against ingress of particles. For the non-flammable series of products, the manufacturer uses the highest quality of non-flammable and flame-retardant materials.
USB and USB mini connectors by Bulgin
All of the products from the USB Buccaneer series are IP68-rated. The wide product range includes three most popular types of connectors: USB A, USB B, USB B mini and USB C. The cables are sold in different configurations, depending on the individual need of the client – the cable can connect both sockets and plugs, one or both ends of the cable can be sealed, the socket can have both external and internal thread. Cables terminated with a four- or five-pin terminal block are also available.
One of the examples of such a product is the PX0840/B/2M00 cable. It is equipped with a USB Type-A connector, which is used for connection in a safe environment, and USB Type-B with an IP68-rated, sealed plug. Internal thread used on the connector housing allows to secure the socket against accidental disconnection and protects it from the ingress of water and dust particles.
Another solution mentioned above is a cable ended with a four-pin connector. An example of such a product is PX0843/A BULGIN. On one end, there is a USB Type-A connector with an O-ring and thread connection, while on the other end, there is a four-pin terminal block to which electrical wire conductors are connected.
