GENEVA – DuPont Mobility & Materials announced it has been awarded UL certification for the latest EIS Class F – CRZ200 standard. In CRZ200, there are four non-halogen, flame retardant (NH-FR) materials, including two Zytel polyamide grades, as well as one Crastin PBT and one Rynite polyester solution. The results have been published at the UL iQ website.
These new NH-FR grades offer manufacturers of Electrical Insulation Systems (EIS) important new options to manufacture components such as coil forms, bobbins, relays, and motors. Included in the certification are two new materials, Zytel HTNFR42G45NHSR and Rynite FR533NH, which have proven to be successful in replacing thermosets in coil forms, a new application for these product families.
“We are proud that our new non-halogen, flame-retardant solutions meet UL Class F EIS – CRZ200 requirements. We invest significant effort and time in testing our materials, for the benefit of our customers,” said Miles Wang, APAC application development director, DuPont Mobility & Materials. “The designation helps our customers save time and expense when they develop new products.”
EIS classes are based on the maximum hot spot in an electrical system. The Class F designation means these solutions all perform at temperatures up to 155°C, making them an excellent selection for many critical EIS components. The UL certification reduces risk to manufacturers because they know these solutions have passed rigorous testing for safety and performance at a certified third-party lab.
Electrical and electronics (E/E) manufacturers reduce risk by specifying solutions that meet EIS standards. DuPont works with other EIM (electrical insulation material) suppliers to provide combinations of materials to UL to assemble, test, and certify as qualified for EIS. “We estimate that our investment in testing and certifications helps our customers save at least $100,000 in testing fees and two years’ time when launching new products,” adds Miles Wang.
The DuPont portfolio for the E/E industry includes a broad range of materials based on various resins including PBT, PET, and polyamides. The company has developed more than 400 solutions that meet EIS standards for E/E parts. DuPont’s customers include brand owners and their suppliers who mold parts for motors, switches and relays, coil forms & transformers, solenoids, PCB terminal blocks, and more.
