New Delhi– At MWC 2024, MediaTek will showcase several technology demonstrations, featuring next-generation product highlights in NTN, 5G RedCap, and 5G CPE, plus collaborations in Dimensity Auto, as well as novel examples of real-time Generative AI video diffusion and pre-6G ambient computing. MediaTek-powered devices from some of the world’s biggest brands will also be on display.
“We are continuing to expand our leadership in several key product categories, and MWC gives us a great opportunity to demonstrate our growth by highlighting our latest developments in Generative AI at the edge, satellite broadband, 5G RedCap and CPE,” said Joe Chen, President of MediaTek. “We’re also laying the foundation for the 6G-era by utilizing novel inventions in emerging categories such as ambient computing.”
Real-time Generative AI Video Diffusion powered by MediaTek 7th Gen AI Processor
At MWC 2024, MediaTek is showcasing the first on-device Generative AI video diffusion powered entirely by its flagship 5G mobile processor, the Dimensity 9300. This leading smartphone chip incorporates the world’s first hardware-based Generative AI Engine with secure, personalized AI, capable of bandwidth reduction, LoRA Fusion, and 8X faster generative AI performance versus MediaTek’s previous generation AI processor.
Expanding Auto Industry Collaborations
Dimensity Auto will promote safety-first features through virtualized operating systems within vehicles as demonstrated using OpenSynergy Hypervisor technology. Additionally, MediaTek and ACCESS Twine4Car are working together to develop richer multi-screen entertainment and interactive services. Central to these partnerships, the Dimensity Auto smart cockpit and infotainment platforms provide highly capable processing that can handle multiple operating systems, several wireless connectivity feeds, multiple concurrent video playbacks and even advanced 3D graphics and generative AI for the driver and passengers in the vehicle.
World’s First RedCap RFSoC Platform for 5G IoT and Wearables
The newly-announced MediaTek T300 platform will make it easy for IoT designers to transition to 5G-NR in applications that require ultra-efficient connectivity and long-lasting battery life, such as wearables, light-weight AR devices, and always-connected IoT modules. At MWC 2024, MediaTek will demonstrate how it can achieve consistently low latency (URLLC) for AR and IIoT applications, servicing critical traffic flows with precise scheduling granularity to significantly and reliably reduce transmission latency compared to previous generation connectivity. The low power demonstration showcases the performance and capabilities of MediaTek’s new RedCap RFSoC using the Keysight UXM5G Wireless Test Platform.
Exclusive New 5G CPE Technologies Enhancing Performance and User Experiences
MediaTek is demonstrating its latest features for 5G CPE devices powered by its T830 platform, including uplink performance enhancements using three transmission antennae (3TX) applicable across 5G NR band combinations; and Low-Latency, Low-Loss, and Scalable Throughput (L4S), which significantly reduces network delays and greatly improves the user experience compared to legacy designs. The demonstration is performed in collaboration with the Anritsu MT8000A test station.
World’s First 5G-Advanced Satellite Broadband & Foundation of Pre-6G NTN User Experience
Following the successful launch of the MediaTek MT6825 in 2023, the company is continuing to lead the satellite communication technology with a live demonstration of its next-generation, 5G-Advanced NR-NTN satellite test chip that will deliver more than 100Mbps data throughput with advanced LEO satellite support over Ku-band for automotive and broader types of terminals, in collaboration with Rohde & Schwarz using the SMW200A Victor Signal Generator, R&S FSW Signal Analyzer and ITRI NR NTN test gNB. Following this, the world’s first pre-6G satellite broadband user experience demonstration will also be exhibited with a realistic emulation of an LEO satellite fly-by.
6G Ambient Computing offering Private, Seamless Virtual Personal Networks & Aggregated Acceleration
MediaTek will provide an example of the future of personal networks through ambient computing and connectivity convergence. As home IoT devices continue to grow, managing them from outside the house is usually performed through third-party servers and services. A private ambient (virtual) network that utilizes 5G devices and home routers would mitigate the need for a complicated setup – such as port forwarding and secure tunnelling – by providing a streamlined experience with increased privacy, more reliable and customizable service, and a faster response. This results in simpler home IoT management tasks, network storage streaming, and improved aggregated computing, either processing from a single device or distributed through multiple devices simultaneously.
