Mouser Electronics the New Product Introduction (NPI) leader™ empowering innovation, recently received the Mansfield (Texas) Independent School District (MISD) Education Foundation Community Partner Award for its ongoing support of Mansfield ISD as well as the district’s science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education programs. Mouser supports the MISD Education Foundation by funding grants for teachers to provide engaging opportunities for students, particularly to enhance STEM education.
For the current school year, Mouser also is supporting a district-wide initiative called Engineering the Future: Sustainable Solutions to Everyday Problems through the Advanced Placement environmental science classes at MISD’s high schools. Advanced Placement offers students the opportunity to earn college credit by taking college-level courses and exams in high school.
“Mouser is strongly dedicated to improving education at every level, so we are happy to help support future engineers in our own community,” said Kevin Hess, Mouser’s Senior Vice President of Marketing. “As a future-looking company, we realize that today’s students will be creating solutions to problems that don’t even exist yet. By giving them the tools they need now, we are helping prepare them for the future.”
Previously, Mouser has supported MISD through funding grants for educational programs at the Jerry Knight STEM Academy as well as expanding makerspaces in MISD’s high school libraries and providing robotics kits to help students develop essential skills. Mouser also sponsored a STEM Lab at MISD’s new Frontier STEM Academy, providing the high schoolers an engaging place to work, plan, create and print their 3D images.
Mouser’s commitment to education runs deep. For many years, the global authorized distributor has been a major sponsor of FIRST® Robotics at the local, state and international levels by supporting robot-building competitions and local teams. Mouser is also a proud sponsor of the Shine Runners Racing Company from the Ben Barber Innovation Academy, a student group that builds and races solar-powered cars.
