TDK is a renowned Japanese manufacturer of electronic devices and components. For some time now, the TME product catalogue has included numerous components manufactured by this supplier, and the available range is still expanding. See below for new products just added to our store. They can already be purchased directly from TME’s warehouses. It means that the shipping time will be reduced to the necessary minimum (usually 24 hours), so that customers are not forced to adjust their schedule to the manufacturer’s distribution schedule.
MLCCs
MLCCs (multilayer ceramic capacitors) brought about the revolution in the field of electronic equipment miniaturisation. They are designed for SMD (surface) mounting and are characterised by very small dimensions. The MLCC design is relatively simple. These components combine multiple mono-layer capacitors in parallel, with a ceramic material used as a dielectric. Thanks to that, manufacturers can achieve an excellent capacitance-to-volume ratio of a capacitor, as well as good current-related performance – making it possible to use MLCCs in signal and supply filters, for integrated circuit decoupling and in many other circuits.

MLCC enclosures facilitate automated installation.
Due to the wide range of applications, manufacturers supply MLCC components in diverse versions, each designed for a specific set of applications. The TDK product range offered by TME has just been extended to include C, CGA and CKG product series. All of them are compliant with the applicable requirements of the RoHS and REACH directives (intended to eliminate electronics containing chemical compounds that are hazardous to health). Their structure is also free of halogens, and the zinc coating applied on terminals is lead-free. See below for a description of the typical characteristics of these series.
C series
The C series is designed for the purposes of basic applications. These components are available in various enclosure sizes. Their format is determined by the four digits following the letter “C” in the symbol code: the first two digits determine the length in tenths of a millimetre, and the next two digits specify the component width. Thus, “1608” stands for: 1.6 mm in length and 0.8 mm in width (0603 in the “inch” format).
The C series capacitors demonstrate high mechanical strength values. They come in variants supporting voltages from 100 V to 630 V. They are designed for typical applications, e.g. DC/DC converter circuits, decoupling, voltage smoothing, resonance systems, and provide a perfect solution for miniaturised wireless chargers or inverters.
CGA series
The CGA series has been developed by TDK for automotive circuit applications, i.e. for installation in passenger cars, vans and lorries, etc. The manufacturer has obtained the necessary component certification, i.e. conformance with the AEC-Q200 standard. Due to their monolithic design, MLCCs are a perfect solution for applications in which they are subjected to vibration and shock.
The CGA series components are designed to handle voltages ranging from 6.3 V to 250 V DC. Their characteristics include: capacitance from 8 µF to 47 µF, excellent thermal tolerance range (from -55°C to 125°C) (most models), and very low impedance values (Low ESR). They are available in low-tolerance versions (±5%), and in enclosure sizes from 0603 to 5750 (i.e. from 0201 to 2220 as per the “inch” scale). In addition, articles incorporating the C0G dielectric are characterised by a low temperature coefficient (max. 30 ppm/°C).
CKG series
The CKG series includes components featuring a characteristic enclosure equipped with extended terminals, sometimes referred to as MEGACAP. This design offers four major advantages: (1) offers component shock absorption, ensuring further protection from damage due to vibration; (2) makes the PCB/component connection more resistant to board bending; (3) provides an additional surface acting as a heat sink to increase the thermal tolerance of a component; (4) facilitates capacitor (parallel) “stacking”, thereby achieving double the capacitance with the same footprint. As far as their applications are concerned, apart from the above-mentioned capabilities, the CKG series components do not differ from other components described above. They operate at voltages up to 630 V DC and come in the capacities of 1 µF, 2.2 µF, 10 µF and 22µF.
Interference suppressing components

Surface-mount filter for mains-supplied equipment. Finally, we should mention two more product groups that have just been expanded. For some time now, the TME product range has included anti-interference components manufactured by TDK, such as ferrites or SMD filters. The former category now also includes 2012 (0805) beads, characterised by impedance of 1 kΩ for frequency of 100 MHz, i.e. elements designed to suppress interferences/high-frequency signals caused, e.g. by wireless connectivity-enabled devices (tablets, mobile phones, IoT circuits). The latter group, i.e. surface-mounted filters includes product operating at the maximum voltage from 50 V to 80 V DC (and currents even up to 3 A), with coil resistance from 50 mΩ to 1.5 Ω. They are designed mostly to minimise interference originating from the mains by stabilising power supply to radio and TV equipment, etc.
