Stuttgart, Germany – onsemi will showcase its latest image sensing technology at VISION – the world’s leading trade fair for machine vision – at booth 10G30.
Handheld barcode readers need to be fast, reliable and have good battery life to meet increasing expectations for worker productivity from retail stores to e-commerce warehouses. onsemi will demonstrate a barcode reader solution featuring a new 1/8” VGA CMOS digital image sensor that is four times better than the global shutter efficiency of the previous generation of onsemi’s VGA image sensors. The small size and ultra-low power consumption allow deployment in extremely compact vision systems. The new sensor is fully supported by the AP1302 co-processor and other industry-leading image signal processors over a single lane MIPI interface, delivering full resolution image data at 120 frames per second (fps).
onsemi will also showcase a high-resolution image sensor focused on machine vision applications. This 1/2″ 20MP image sensor has many functional features using proprietary technologies that deliver exceptional image quality across all operating conditions and delivers high performance with a very low power footprint. For applications where power consumption and/or bandwidth are a concern, the sensor can be configured to output a variety of low-resolution image formats.
In collaboration with Leopard Imaging, onsemi will demonstrate a Vision Guided Robotics solution that addresses depth accuracy with the popular AR0234CS image sensor. This 1/2.6” 2.3MP image sensor operates off global shutter technology, is capable of delivering 120 fps at full resolution and a pair is highly suited to create stereoscopic vision required for depth measurements. The solution showcases 2D/3D imaging output running on the popular NVIDIA® Jetson™ platform and provides industry-leading depth accuracy. Additionally, the platform demonstrates a monocular camera solution running in parallel to deliver intelligent vision solutions as in smart label identification, OCR & bar codes and more.
VISION visitors will also be able to see the onsemi XGS family of CMOS image sensors, particularly the X-Cube reference design and X-Celerator FPGA development platform, based on the XGS 5000 (5.3 MP 2592 x 2048 px), XGS 16000 (16.0 MP 4000 x 4000 px) and the flagship XGS 45000 (44.7 MP 8192 x 5460 px), able to run at 8K video at 60 fps. These image sensors can deliver multiple resolutions and frame rates with 12-bit resolution. The family of advanced devices is built upon an innovative 3.2 mm global shutter pixel, enabling XGS devices to offer outstanding image quality and uniformity – even at high resolutions.
