RECOM has added to their cost-effective ‘K’ series of DC/DC converters featuring advanced design and manufacturing technology with a 5W part in a miniature 1” x 1” x 0.4” (25.4 x 25.4 x 10mm) plastic package. The REC5K-AW has a wide 4:1 input range (9 – 36VDC) and a single regulated 5VDC output. Up to 5W/1A is available between 18-36VDC input and the part operates from -40°C up to 110°C ambient temperature with derating. The DC/DC is certified to UL/EN/IEC 62368-1 for 4kVDC/1sec ‘basic’ grade isolation and meets EMC standard EN 55032 Class B for input conducted noise with a simple input filter. The parts are characterized for operation to 5000m altitude in a pollution degree 2 (PD2) environment and MTBF is over 1.4MHrs at 25°C according to MIL-HDBK-217F (GB).

The REC5K-AW is short-circuit protected and features an input under-voltage lockout. On/Off control is also provided with a typical standby current of just 3mA.

Matthew Dauterive, DC/DC Product Manager of RECOM, comments, “The wide input, high power density and isolation rating of these parts make them ideal for high-end applications such as medical and industrial, where cost is also a factor.”

Parts include a three-year warranty and samples, and OEM pricing are available from all authorized distributors, or directly from RECOM.
