DC/DCs for rail applications typically operate from 72V, 96V, or 110VDC nominal input with dips and surges. To address this application, RECOM’s new, cost-effective RPxx-RAW range of isolated, regulated converters offers an ultra-wide 36V to 160VDC input (200V for 1s) with a section of single and dual outputs: 3.3V, 5V, 12V, 15V, 24V, +/-5V, +/-12V, and +/-15V. The RP03-RAW series is rated at 3W output, the RP06-RAW at 6W, and the RP10-RAW at 10W. All parts are in a common through-pin encapsulated DIP24 industry-standard format 31.8mm x 20.3mm x 10.6mm tall.

The RPxx-RAW series incorporates advanced circuit and thermal design techniques resulting in high efficiency and low internal temperature rises, enabling an operation to high ambient temperatures at full load, convection cooled without derating: 90°C for the 3W part, 85°C for the 6W part, and 75°C for the 10W part. With derating all parts operate up to 105°C. Full protection is included against input under-voltage, over-temperature, output over-voltage, short circuits, and over-current. A shutdown control is also provided.

The isolation rating for the parts is reinforced 3kVAC and certifications include EN50155 as well as IEC/EN/UL62368 and the Canadian equivalent. EN55032 class A EMC specification is met without additional components while class B level can be met with the addition of three small, external capacitors.

“These DC/DCs are ideal as auxiliary supplies in the harsh rail environment,” comments Mathew Dauterive, DC/DC Product Manager of RECOM. “They could also be used in wider industry where higher supply voltages are seen, such as in battery management systems, electric forklift trucks, and IoT sensors.”

Parts include a three-year warranty, samples and OEM pricing are available from all authorized distributors or directly from RECOM.
