For years now, TME has been offering products manufactured by renowned Swiss Traco Electronic AG, marketed under the Traco Power brand. The brand’s product range is extensive, with AC/DC converters being one of the most relevant product groups.
Traco Power is an internationally renowned power supply unit brand providing high-quality AC/DC and DC/DC conversion units. The mainstay of the Traco Power range are high-power converters, DIN-mounted AC/DC power supply units and open-design units, provided in power ranges from 15 to as much as 1000 W, as well as DC/DC converters up to 300 W, and modular AC/DC converters in enclosures of up to 100 W. These products are used in sectors such as e.g. IT, industry, automation and control, rail transport, medicine and energy distribution.

This Traco Power product group includes 101 items, 89 of which are designed for PCB mounting and the other 12 are intended for panel mounting (two TPP series labelled as E-J). Their operating temperature range is (after slight averaging) from -40°C to +85°C, while the insulation voltage is in the range from 3000 to 4200 V. Depending on the model and series, the output voltage values are: 3.3, 5, 9, 12, 15, 24, 36 and 48 V DC. The Traco Power product offering is divided into nine product series:
TMG series of AC/DC power supply units
They are delivered in hermetically sealed plastic packaging and are very compact and energy-efficient. Integration of high-quality components makes the units suitable for operation in temperatures from -40°C to +70°C. Their low power consumption rating (no-load) makes them suitable for applications that comply with the ErP Directive. The units in the TMG come with short-circuit and overvoltage protection. The EMI/EMC characteristics and a range of safety approvals qualify them to support industrial or commercial equipment in demanding applications. Their main technical specifications include a fully hermetic design (plastic housing), PCB mounting capability, low output current ripple and noise, fully adjustable outputs, 4242 V DC input/output insulation, efficiency up to 90%, universal input range (90 to 264 V AC), operating temperatures from -25°C to +70°C, safety class II, short-circuit and overvoltage protection.

These units ensure the highest power density in a fully enclosed module that can be soldered directly to PCBs. This makes them ideal for all commercial and industrial electronic equipment applications, where space savings are critical. Basic parameters of this series include: PCB mounting capability, very high power density, fully enclosed plastic housing, universal input 90–264 V AC, 47–440 Hz, EMI compliant with the EN 55022 standard (Class B and FCC, level B), low ripple and noise levels and short-circuit and overvoltage protection.
Traco Power TMPS power supply units
TMPS 15 is a series of fully enclosed AC/DC power supply units. They are designed for domestic (building automation systems) and industrial applications. Due to very low power consumption in the no-load mode (<100 mW), the TMPS 15 series complies with the EU ErP Directive for energy-efficient devices. All these power supply units are designed for Class II applications and are equipped with an integrated Class B EMI filter as per EN 55032. Enhanced insulation, high power density and outstanding peak power ratings make the TMPS 15 series a perfect solution for demanding applications. The key features of the series include: a fully sealed 1.07″ x 2.06″ x 0.93″ packaging, ErP-ready specifications (<100 mW no-load power), EN 60335 (residential facilities) and UL 62368-1 (IT and industrial facilities) certification, operating temperature from -25°C to +70°C, 130% peak power withstand capability (up to 30 seconds maximum), integrated Class B EMI filter, input/output isolation up to 3000 V AC (reinforced) and Class II protection.
The TMPS 10 series includes ultra-compact AC/DC power supply units that are fully enclosed in a plastic housing designed for PCB mounting (1″ x 1.5″). Apart from conforming to the safety standards applicable to industrial and IT solutions (IEC/EN/UL 62368-1), they are also IEC/EN 60335-1 certified for household appliance applications. These 10 W units are a perfect solution for low-power-consumption circuits or separate circuits for which available space limitations are of key importance. They also ensure efficient standby power supply when compliance with the ErP Directive is required. The 130% peak current rating facilitates the actuation of the main circuits.

TMPS converters – ultra-\compact power supply units
The basic features of this series include: enhanced 4000 V AC input/output insulation, operating temperature range from -25°C to +70°C, 130% peak power withstand capability (up to 30 seconds maximum), no-load power consumption < 0.15 W, EMI as per EN 55032 (Class B and EN 55014-1) and Class II protection. Traco Power also offers the TMPS-05 series featuring the same parameters, but with the power rating of 5 W.
TMPS-03 is another series of ultra-compact AC/DC power supply units enclosed in fully sealed plastic housings designed for PCB mounting, but with the power rating of 3 W. They are certified as per IEC/EN 60335-1 for household appliances and provide an interesting solution for space-critical applications in commercial and industrial electronic equipment or in any application where compliance with the ErP Directive is required. Key parameters: size 1″ x 1″, no-load output power <150 mW, operating temperature range from -25°C to +70°C, certified as per IEC/EN 60335-1 for household appliances, EMI conforming to EN 55022 (Class B) and Class II protection.

These units come with a reinforced system of double input/output insulation that is compliant with the IEC/EN/ES 60601-1 medical safety standards (edition III for 2 x MOPP, suitable for operation at 5000 m above the sea level). Here, the earth leakage current is below 75 µA, which makes these units suitable for BF (body float) applications. Their superior efficiency (up to 88.5%) ensures high power density in 1.1” x 1.65” housings. The operating temperature range at full load is from -40°C to -70°C, and up to 85°C, at loads reduced to 50%. These devices conform to medical emission and EMC immunity levels and the latest IEC 60601 standard (4th edition).

Here, the earth leakage current is below 75 µA, which makes these units suitable for BF (body float) applications. Their superior efficiency reaching 92% ensures high power density in 1.5” x 2.9” housings. These devices conform to medical emission level and EMC resistance standards plus the latest IEC 60601-1-2 standard (4th edition).
