Malav Parekh, a final-year product design student at Anant National University has created a transformative solution that addresses the challenges faced by individuals with long-duration desk jobs. Guided by mentor, Parth Atulkumar Shah, the vision revolves around the idea of integrating a treadmill and work desk to create the Walk Station – a product that not only promotes fitness but also generates electricity.
The idea behind the Walk Station stems from recognizing the time constraints faced by busy professionals who struggle to find time for exercise amidst their demanding work schedules. The solution aims to provide a seamless and efficient way to incorporate physical activity into the work routine.
The process of bringing the Walk Station to life involved meticulous research, design, and engineering. The student studied the needs and preferences of his target audience, identifying their desire for a convenient and timesaving solution. Design ergonomics from his research crafted a design that integrated a functional workstation with a treadmill, providing individuals with the opportunity to work and exercise simultaneously. To ensure sustainability and maximize the product’s impact, a dynamo is incorporated into the Walk Station. As users engage in physical activity, the mechanical energy generated powers by walking the dynamo generator will convert it into usable electrical energy, with that energy generated we can save the electricity by installing the 12 v Battery and with that battery we have attached an AC to Dc Convertor which will convert the dc voltage and with that , user can have the flexibility to charge the mobile or one can charge the laptop. So the main intention to make the device is to get fit while working and go charge your device which saves cost and make the planet green This innovative feature not only promotes a healthier lifestyle but also reduces dependence on conventional power sources, contributing to a greener environment.
Through extensive market research and user interviews, the student gained valuable insights into the challenges faced by individuals seeking a balance between work and exercise. This knowledge formed the basis for the design phase, driven by the goal of seamlessly integrating fitness and productivity. The student invested considerable effort in sketching, prototyping, and refining the design to ensure optimal functionality, ergonomics, and aesthetics.
Every design decision was carefully evaluated to create a prefect user experience where work and physical activity harmoniously coexist. The manufacturing process involved material selection and collaboration with fabricators to ensure the Walk Station’s quality, durability, and safety. Resulting in a cohesive unit that combines form and function. This offers a new perspective on work and fitness, encouraging a healthier lifestyle while minimizing environmental impact.
