Avnet Cares is proud to support organizations across the United States that are advancing STEM education, environmental sustainability and food security. Through its latest round of community grants, Avnet supported a variety of organizations across the country, where Avnet has a large presence. Grants were awarded to:
- A New Leaf (Mesa, AZ) – Supporting programs that help individuals and families overcome homelessness, domestic violence and other life challenges.
- Chicago Academy of Sciences (Chicago, IL) – Expanding access to science education and environmental learning experiences through the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum.
- Education Empowers (Chandler, AZ) – Providing underserved students with hands-on STEAM learning opportunities through robotics, drone technology, coding and career exploration programs.
- Natural Restorations (Phoenix, AZ) – Funding desert reforestation projects and beautification of local natural areas.
- Perot Museum (Dallas, TX) – Inspiring future innovators through hands-on STEM learning and science education programs.
- Planet Bee Foundation (San Jose, CA) – Connecting students with environmental science through pollinator education and hands-on beekeeping experiences.
- SciTech Institute (Tempe, AZ) – Expanding STEM learning opportunities and career exploration programs with funding for mini-grants for their Chief Science Officers.
- St. Mary’s Food Bank (Phoenix, AZ) – Helping provide nutritious food to individuals and families facing food insecurity.
- Greenspace Dallas (Dallas, TX) – Supporting community-driven environmental projects that create and maintain healthier, greener neighborhoods.
Among this year’s recipients, Natural Restorations holds a special place in Avnet Cares’ giving portfolio. As a long-time community partner, the organization has worked to restore Arizona’s desert landscapes through native plant conservation and habitat restoration. The latest grant will support a reforestation effort that includes planting saguaros, one of the Southwest’s most iconic and ecologically important desert species. Avnet volunteers will help in this endeavor.
