On World EV Day 2026, Eicher Trucks and Buses, a business unit of VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV), reaffirmed its commitment to accelerating India’s transition towards future-ready and sustainable commercial mobility.
As part of this vision, the company continues to strengthen its electric mobility preparedness, with close to two thousand Eicher electric trucks and buses across diverse applications including tarmac, school, staff and city buses and distribution trucks.
Guided by its ‘Pro Planet, Pro Business’ perspective, Eicher Trucks and Buses’ electric mobility solutions combine energy efficiency and performance with the potential for improved operating economics across suitable applications. This approach reflects the company’s win-win approach of enabling sustainable transportation that covers productivity, reliability, self-reliance and cost considerations that are critical to commercial vehicle operations.
Directly addressing customer concerns around charging infrastructure, Eicher Trucks and Buses has strengthened the ecosystem required to support wider EV adoption. Through its partnership with major Charging Point Operators in the country, the company has integrated more than 20,000 EV charging points on the industry leading My Eicher app, providing seamless accessibility for customers.
Eicher Trucks and Buses’ electric mobility journey is also supported by its broader focus on sustainable manufacturing. Nearly 26% of the company’s total energy requirement in FY 2024–25 was met through green sources, supported by a 14.2 MW Group Captive Power Purchase Agreement and 7.2 MW of rooftop solar capacity. Since last year, Eicher Truck and Bus employees at Pithampur have the option to ride to work in Eicher’s electric buses – in silent and airconditioned comfort.
At its Bhopal operations, sustainability measures include zero liquid discharge, water-saving systems and a 52-million-litre rainwater-harvesting reservoir amongst other initiatives.
Eicher has consistently stayed ahead of evolving emission norms and cleaner propulsion technologies. After being among the early movers to showcase BS-VI commercial vehicles already in 2019, the company has continued to expand its new-energy portfolio across EV’s, CNG and LNG, while investing in development of H2ICE and hydrogen fuel cell technologies.
As India advances towards its vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, Eicher Trucks and Buses continues to align its future-ready mobility strategy with national priorities including energy self-reliance and sustainability.
