In modern industry, precise, reliable and flexible automation solutions are key to competitiveness, with sensors providing the data for control and optimization processes. Micro-Epsilon offers a large portfolio of innovative sensor solutions for automated manufacturing processes.

Micro-Epsilon offers suitable solutions for almost all possible applications. The portfolio ranges from compact laser sensors, inductive sensors and gauges to precise temperature sensors and complex 3D measurement technology.

Thickness measurement of glass panes

Confocal sensors from the confocalDT series display resolutions down to the nanometer range, operate wear-free and measure the distance and thickness of micro-lenses, glass or films. For example, they measure glass pane thickness in smartphone display production.

Temperature measurement in real time

Micro-Epsilon’s new, high-precision thermoMETER series detect temperatures from -50 to +1100 °C without contact. In battery film drying, where slurry is applied to a carrier film and cured, infrared pyrometers measure its temperature in real time and enable precise control of the process.

Assembly of flexible components

Automated cable harness assembly requires high precision and flexibility. Together with robots, the scanCONTROL 3010-200 laser profile scanners detect cable position and geometry in real time so the robot can grip and insert them accurately.

Inline quality assurance

The measurement of vibrating or fast-moving objects poses a major challenge in dynamic production processes. The optoCONTROL 2700 precision micrometer is designed for this purpose. With a sampling rate of 15 kHz and an extremely short exposure time of 8.5 µs, it detects diameters, gap widths or edge positions extremely reliably, even with strong object movements.

Wide variety of 3D sensors

The high-precision 3D snapshot sensors from the surfaceCONTROL series are ideal for the automated inline inspection of geometries or shapes on diffusely reflective surfaces. The sensors are used for quality assurance in battery production, for example. After welding the pole terminal, shunt and bridge, the sensor checks the coplanarity of these components.

reflectCONTROL sensors were developed for the surface inspection of reflective parts. Due to their high-precision resolution, the sensors are used in paint defect inspection by leading car manufacturers. A defect can be localized within ±3 mm on the surface and is given 3D features such as height, depth and volume due to the unique reconstruction.

Easy to integrate

Micro-Epsilon’s measurement technology combines precision with intelligent integration and data-based added value. Due to standardized interfaces, the sensors can be integrated directly into control and management systems without additional gateways or complex adaptations.

Conclusion

Micro-Epsilon’s measurement technology solutions make a decisive contribution to the successful automation of industrial processes. Their robust design, high measuring precision and simple integration make the sensors ideal for demanding environments and flexible production systems.
