Gmunden – The RVP007 combines a full-bridge drive, programmable switching frequency, and integrated protection features for compact isolated power supplies.
RECOM expands its power IC portfolio with the RVP007, an integrated transformer driver for isolated power supplies with an input voltage range of 4.5 – 24V. The IC integrates four power MOSFETs in a full-bridge topology, enabling compact power supply solutions with minimal external components. Depending on the application design, isolated power supplies with different output voltages and an output power of 1 – 20W can be realized.
In addition to the full-bridge topology, the RVP007 also supports LLC applications. This operating mode can help reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI) and improve power supply efficiency. The switching frequency can be programmed via the CLK pin: Without an external programming resistor, the nominal internal frequency is 250kHz; with an external resistor, it can be adjusted within a range of 75 – 750kHz.
For controlled startup, the IC features an integrated soft-start function. Dead-time control prevents opposing switches from turning on simultaneously. In addition, the RVP007 provides input overvoltage protection, current limiting, as well as short-circuit and overtemperature protection with automatic recovery. The specified operating temperature range is -40°C to +125°C.
Typical applications include isolated power supplies for insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) and silicon carbide (SiC) gate drivers, industrial control systems such as distributed control systems (DCS) and programmable logic controllers (PLCs), uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, and photovoltaic inverters. Further applications include power supplies for telecommunications, radio equipment, precision instruments, and medical equipment. The device is housed in an ESOP8 package measuring 5 × 6mm.
“The RVP007 provides engineers with an integrated full-bridge solution for compact isolated power supplies. With its programmable switching frequency, support for LLC applications, and integrated protection features, the IC can be flexibly integrated into different power supply designs,” says Sven Krumpel, Project Manager Power ICs and Solutions at RECOM.
