Hsinchu, Taiwan – Nuvoton Technology, a top global chip company, announced the official launch of the NuMaker-GestureAI-M55M1, a highly integrated application module specifically designed for Endpoint AI development. Engineered to help developers overcome technical barriers in AI model deployment and significantly reduce R&D timelines, this “ready-to-integrate” platform is powered by the NuMicro® M55M1 series microcontroller, which combines the Arm® Cortex®-M55 core with the Ethos™-U55 Neural Processing Unit (NPU). By providing a robust hardware environment, the module empowers developers to rapidly implement intelligent gesture recognition and visual perception into smart home appliances, industrial equipment, and medical devices. The NuMaker-GestureAI-M55M1 effectively accelerates the journey from prototyping to mass production and is now available exclusively through the Nuvoton online store “Direct”.
Fast AI Core and Strong Performance
The module uses the M55M1R2LJAE chip and runs at 220 MHz. It has a special “AI accelerator” inside to work very fast:
- Fast AI Work: It has an Arm® Ethos™-U55 NPU to do AI tasks quickly. It uses less power and runs complex AI models well.
- Big Memory: It has 2 MB Flash and 1.5 MB SRAM. This helps the board run large AI models for gesture or person detection smoothly.
Ready-to-Use Gesture Software and Tools
The NuMaker-GestureAI-M55M1 is made for gesture control. The software is already inside and can do many things:
- Many Hand Gestures: It can understand more than 10 gestures like Call, Like, OK, and Stop.
- Finding People: It can detect people and show their location. It sends this data out through a UART port.
- AI Tools: It works with Nuvoton AI tools. This helps you put your own AI models (like TensorFlow Lite Micro) onto the board easily.
