New Delhi – The Sanchar Saathi initiative has registered a significant twofold surge in mobile phone recoveries in 2025, reflecting growing public trust, wider adoption, and the effective use of technology to protect telecom consumers.
The year began with 28,115 mobile phones recovered in January, followed by 23,455 recoveries in February and 27,055 in March. Momentum continued through the first half of the year with 25,799 recoveries in April, 31,244 in May, and 34,339 in June, indicating steady month-on-month progress and increasing citizen engagement with the platform.
A sharp acceleration was observed in the second half of the year. Recoveries rose substantially to 45,911 in July and remained at the strong level of 45,243 in August. The upward trend continued with 49,909 recoveries in September, crossing the 50,000 mark in October with 50,534 recoveries, followed by 52,590 in November. The year concluded on a high note with 59,766 mobile phones recovered in December, the highest monthly figure recorded during the year.

In total, over 4.7 lakh mobile phones were recovered in 2025 which was 2.3 lakh in 2024 and 65,581 in 2023 when the citizen-centric initiative was launched recording a 7x recovery rate clearly demonstrating a sustained month-on-month growth pattern and a marked improvement compared to previous periods.
The citizen-centric Sanchar Saathi portal (www.sancharsaathi.gov.in) is available in 21 languages and has recorded over 22 crore visits to date. On average, the portal receives around 2.4 lakh visitors per day, and in the current year, the daily visitor count has further increased to approximately 3.7 lakh users. A new module, Trusted Contact Details has been added on Sanchar Saathi portal in 2025. This module has contact details like toll-free numbers, emails, and genuine websites of banks, financial institutions, and government bodies. The mobile app has recorded more than 1.5 crore downloads since its launch
This consistent rise underscores Sanchar Saathi’s success as a citizen-centric, technology-enabled initiative that empowers users to report lost or stolen mobile devices and facilitates swift recovery through coordinated action across the telecom ecosystem. The 2025 performance highlights how the convergence of trust, awareness, and technology can deliver measurable outcomes for citizens, making it truly a year of trust and tech.
