SmartMCD TB9M001FTG is a new motor control development board from MIKROE, the embedded solutions company that dramatically cuts development time by providing innovative hardware and software products based on proven standards. It enables developers to rapidly provide proof-of-concept, then prototype and code new embedded projects. This relay driver circuit board for automotive body electronics uses a SmartMCD IC, integrating an embedded MCU with low-side and high-side drivers for brushed DC motor and load control.

The SmartMCD™ TB9M001FTG board offers an advanced solution for the evaluation and control of brushed DC motors and high-current automotive loads. At its core is the TB9M001FTG automotive-grade relay driver IC from Toshiba Semiconductor with integrated low-side and high-side driver outputs and relay control functionality, enabling direct control of actuators, motors, and power loads commonly used in automotive body electronics. For prototyping, the SmartMCD TB9M001FTG board is equipped with an onboard debug unit, based on Toshiba’s TMPM067FW, which enables out-of-box operation, testing and debugging of the target device.
The board features a TB9M001FTG ARM® Cortex®-M0 core with maximum frequency of 40MHz, and built-in memories like 192KB Code Flash, 16KB Data Flash, 16KB SRAM, and 12KB ROM, as well as USB Type-C connectors, LEDs, push buttons and switches, headers, jumpers, and connectors for additional onboard settings. It supports control of two high-current brushed DC motor channels through onboard solid-state relays rated up to 20A per channel. For connectivity, it includes USB-to-UART communication, LIN interface support, configurable switches, and Hall sensor monitoring terminals. The SmartMCD IC is AEC-Q100 (Grade 1) qualified, and supports operation of -40 °C to +90 °C.
The board’s compact design, measuring 130mm x 73mm, includes all circuits needed for motor control and switches for operational testing.
