Harting is a renowned brand known for a wide range of durable, precise connectors for industry. This manufacturer supplies plugs and sockets compliant with commonly used standards – but does not stop working on innovative modifications…
The Harting connector offer in the TME catalog includes thousands of products. Below we present two solutions that have only recently enriched this assortment. These are innovative D-Sub connectors made in the PushPull system (eliminating the need for fastening screws) and new round industrial connectors of the M17 format. These items can already be purchased directly from our warehouses.

PushPull System in D-Sub Connectors

D-Sub connectors are among the oldest solutions in the field of electronic (signal, communication) connections – and at the same time still enjoy considerable popularity due to their mechanical resistance, wide electrical parameters, and versatility. Traditionally, this type of connector is mated by pressing and then fastened with screws. Although this guarantees a very strong connection, it significantly extends the installation period. The PushPull system developed by Harting eliminates the need to tighten the plug to the socket. This solution is based on expansion latches. The plug housings have holes with a spring retention mechanism. It locks onto latches that are screwed once into any D-Sub socket, adapting it to the PushPull system.

Adapting to the PushPull system
Harting provides latches in several sizes and versions with M3 or UNC 4-40 threads (imperial standard used in D-Sub connectors intended for the US market). The latches are uniformly metal elements. Their rounded end features a slot, which serves as a flat screwdriver socket, which additionally speeds up assembly. After screwing in the latch, the socket is ready to use with the PushPull system.

After screwing the latches into the mounting holes of the socket, PushPull plugs can already be used. Their housing, as mentioned, differs structurally from the traditional one. Therefore, Harting provides a wide range of compatible models. It should be noted that the contacts themselves are identical to the D-Sub standard. PushPull plugs come in versions containing from 9 to 44 pins. They are intended for cable mounting.
The plug housings are supplied with caps to cover one of the output openings of the connector – as the housings are adapted for cable outlet in straight or side (angled) orientation.

Industrial M17 Connectors
Round M connectors of various sizes are a commonly used industrial standard. M17 connectors offer an optimal compromise between relatively compact size and high electrical parameters compatible with most demanding applications. Harting’s M17 plugs and sockets can successfully be used for connecting sensors, transmitting control and communication signals, as well as powering drives, actuators, serving various functions in robotics and automation.

Harting’s offer includes all components necessary for building M17 connectors. These are plug housings mounted on cables and panel sockets, as well as contact inserts and contacts themselves in female and male versions (from 0.6mm to 1.5mm). The inserts accommodate from 4 to 17 connections designed for conductor cross-sections of 0.08…2.5mm2. They support circuits with voltages up to 630V and currents reaching even 14A (26A while maintaining temperature within 40°C).
